Matchstick Man

November 2007 : I am delighted to say that I have stumbled across five more extremely talented unsigned music producers, whilst wandering around the Internet. Crysis, kr4y, Lucid Conduct, Rawkweila and Xyan are producing some wicked tracks and yet again I have been blown away by the style and quality of unsigned artists in the DnB music scene today. As long as fresh talent like this is waiting to be discovered, I see a very long and bright future for Drum and Bass. Amen to that!

October 2007 : I am hosting a website for a local event, raising money in aid of Cancer Research. It`s an all day and evening affair with family entertainment and local bands building up to a night of House, Breakbeat and Techno. So if your in or around Redditch on the 27th of October and at a loose end you might as well drop in. Further details can be found at OneWorld1Family.com.

-----

September 2007 : Twelve months have passed since I set up this site, so I feel obliged to upload something this month, despite the fact that I have not recorded a mix I have been completely happy with in ages. I have uploaded a little excerpt (that word excerpt looks so wrong in type) from a recent freestyle mix, not much skill in it though... if you can`t mix Breakage into Breakage then you might as well go home.

August 2007 : Clarendon!!!

-----

July 2007 : Very little to say this month except Janner has had a dubstep track signed, not sure when this happened because Janner quite modestly wrote it in tiny text on his site and I missed it. Still.. nice one Janner! as you know I think your choons are fantastic. If you are getting slow download speeds from my site (70k a second or less). I would appreciate it, if you could let me know what speeds you get, what ISP you are on and what country you are in (just post the results in the guestbook). I am personally getting download speeds as low as 25k a second, despite the fact I can download from other sites hosted in the same city at full speeds. Whole thing is driving me insane(r).

June 2007 : A lot to say this month, so I will try and keep it short. Advection`s first release has sold very well and is now out of stock at most suppliers and a U.S. label is looking to sign another of Scenics tracks to vinyl. Crix has been making waves in the dnb scene too with Nookie signing one of her tracks to the Strictly Digital label. He has also remixed Crix`s "I Don`t Wanna Lose You" which will be coming out on vinyl on the Phuzion record label with a Nookie remix of Operon`s "Airports" on the flip. You can check out the original versions of Crix`s tracks in my `Essence of Desire´ mix, if you would like to hear the remixes here`s a link to Nookies last live set.

May 2007 : Been trying to spend more time with my cd decks over the last month and me and my DMP-555 are still not friends. Anyway I have uploaded the only mix I recorded, apologies to Klute for the mix into Never.. its me DMP honest... xD

-----

April 2007 : Not a great month for mixes this month, I did lay down a nice Liquid set but forgot to press record...(Doh!).. So as not too disappoint, I have uploaded a set I did in February instead and also a little 97 Atmos thing I recorded while playing with some old CD`s. Apologies for the last mix in the Atmos set... I had to answer the phone mid mix... but I think it turned out ok for a fudge.

-----

March 2007 : Tidals new record label Advection had its first release on March 1st 2007. The next four to five releases are already in the can and Scenic has two tracks on the third release an EP. Its been a long time coming but its great to see people from my hometown scene finally getting their music onto vinyl. I have been loving Scenics choons for the last 7 years, ever since I hooked him up with his first PC and from day one I knew the guy had talent. So I would also like to congratulate Scenic. Nice one mate! keep em coming.

-----

February 2007 : During January a lot of visitors to the site complained of poor download speeds. My host has now moved me to a less populated server and this issue should be resolved. Please contact me via mail or the guestbook if you experience slow download speeds. I also added another freestyle set from January to the mixes page, hope you enjoy it.

-----

January 2007 : I would like to wish everybody a Happy New Year! 2006 was a great year for Drum and Bass lets hope it continues into 2007. I would like to thank all the people who have taken the time to sign the Guestbook because of your kind comments it has become my favourite part of the site. I have added a little 30 minute mix for January and a new improved spamproof guestbook (I am sure the visitors to my site are quite capable of finding their own Viagra supplies). See ya next month...

December 2006 : Another month passes by... 100gb of downloads for November without the aid of a podcast, which I am very happy with. There was a reggae dub set uploaded by the 15th although once again I am unhappy with the mixing, so I don`t expect it to be there for long. Got a couple of sets brewing in my head for December only time will tell whether either or both makes it onto mp3. Been buying a lot more mp3`s recently and I have been trying to souce stuff from smaller independant labels. So hopefully your going to hear a few things you never heard before.

One of Crix`s choons got selected as the opening track for the DOA unsigned artist mix. So I am not the only person who thinks Crix has talent. If you have not heard Crix`s music make sure you check out `Essence of Desire´ on the mixes page.

November 2006 : Last month went amazingly well. October was the sites 1st full month and with the help of a couple of mixblog`s and a podcast, I served 270gb of my mixes. It is going to be a tough act to follow, but I have submitted another mix for podcast and hopefully it is good enough to get accepted. I did manage to upload two sets for October although neither of them are as tightly mixed as I would have liked. One of them is a little special though, as it contains dublates from a producer called Crix.

A few amateur producers are sending me tracks to use in my mixes, but I am always looking for more. So if you produce tracks and think they are good enough to sit side by side with professionally produced dnb get in contact.

October 2006 : Well I made it to October. I`ve made a couple of subtle changes to the site and added a few bits people have asked for, most importantly a Guestbook so all you leechers have an opportunity to leave some feedback. One of my mixes has been accepted on dnbpodcast.com and its getting mad hits (literally hundreds) so I am on a bit of a high atm. Been neglecting my decks recently but I intend to put that right this month and get at least one, hour long mix up for your listening pleasure.

-----

September 2006 : I have finally got round to purchasing some webspace. Most of my 2006 mixes are now uploaded and ready for leech. Hopefully I will have some of my older mixes uploaded soon and I can start work on making these pages look and work a bit slicker. An amateur producers dubplate page is on the cards and the odd Scenic and Advisory track may appear on this site.

Scenic and Advisory got their first knowledge magazine mention this month, expect to see something on Wax from them on Tidals new record label Advection
